The House - Other Projects

Here I will post some of those other little projects that we do around the house.  As you probably have guessed, Tony and I love being homeowners.  We like to keep busy.
To try to put off replacing the heating and air conditioning unit at least another year, we needed to put more insulation up in the attic.  We actually have a pretty big space up there.  This was my first time up there and hopefully my last.  Boy was it hot!

Here you can see the beam that Todd put up in the attic for support when we took out the old stairwell.
Look at all the snow!
Tony had the easy job of sitting up here and blowing in the insulation.

Dad and I were outside in the sun putting insulation in the hopper.
I think we put 20 bags of insulation up in the attic.

On the north side of the house was a sidewalk leading to the hair salon.  The sidewalk was slanting toward the garage probably causing water to go under the garage and ultimately push against the basement wall.  I don't have a before picture.  Dad and Tony busted up the approximately 4 inch think sidewalk.

Sidewalk all gone.  It still looks like this now.  We (Tony) have added more dirt that came from the window well hole.  We plan to put in rock and stepping stones.

New project:  Making a bed up in the front yard.  Basically Tony is putting in a mini retaining wall around in the front and will eventually go around the south side of the house.  He has lots of practice since he put  in a huge retaining wall out in Colorado.  The blocks were paid for with our $100 rebate we got from our insulation.  You got to love those Menards rebates!

He put pea gravel in the window well while he was at it.  Menards had lots of outdoor project stuff on sale over Labor Day weekend.
We are going to have 3 large barrels in the front for our flowers.

The first week in October we continued on the landscaping.  Tony finished up the wall in the front and south side of the house.  He also placed the 3 barrels in front and 2 on the side.  I then laid down the weed barrier.

On the north side of the house, I installed scalloped edging.  Pretty straight if you ask me!
We had 2 cubic yards of landscaping rock delivered.  I am proud to say that I laid most of it out in the beds.  I worked hard for a couple days to get it done before the rainy weekend and before the inlaws came!

We put in stepping stones to get to the back door too.
This is all the rock we have left.  We offered some to the neighbor and if Tony extends the wall all the way down the south side we should be able to use it all.
