Organizing

I haven't blogged much because I have been trying to organize our life so as to not go insane.  The laundry, the shoes, the toys have been driving me crazy.  I spent some time searching for some organizers and decided to purchase the following items.  So far, so good.  Things are staying organized.  The family doesn't always help but at least it is easier for me to put things in their place.

The laundry sorter:  If you had been to my house on laundry day, you probably stumbled upon a pile of laundry thrown behind the couch in front of the washing machine.  Here is where I sorted the clothes into piles.  I usually didn't get all the laundry done in one day so the piles remained for much of the week.  Now I use the sorter for lights, darks, towels, and school clothes (I never had the khakis washed that Addison wanted).  Our old hamper is used for Tony's dress clothes.  When a bag is full, I carry the bag to the washing machine and do a load of laundry.  I am also keeping up with putting the laundry away because I don't do a million loads in one day; I do what is necessary.  You all probably have figured this type of organizing out a long time ago, but I am slow!  Added bonus:  this sorter was 50% off!

The kids' shoes used to be thrown in a box in the wardrobe.  To find their shoes, the kids usually dumped the whole box out to find the shoes they wanted.  I kept putting off doing anything about it because I wanted shoe cubbies to be part of this amazing closet that my husband is going to build in the girls' room downstairs.  So I thought I could just wait.  Well I couldn't wait any longer.  I decided to purchase these hanging shoe racks.  I splurged a little and got colored ones.  Now the kids are actually excited about this and are trying to keep their shoes put away.  Only if I could my husband to put his shoes away.  There is no room in his closet for a hanging rack either.  I will need to keep thinking about what to do about his stuff.

The girls are lucky enough to have an amazing Grandma and are starting to grow their American Girl collections.  I didn't know what to do with all the accessories but when I was searching on ebay, I found this organizer.  It actually is for Webkinz but works great for American Girl stuff.
I am now on my way to being much more organized.  Next organization project is to do better with filing bills, receipts, etc.  Ideally I would like to have the Neat Desk but it is quite expensive.  Check back to see

Christmas Present

I saw this project on someone else's blog and I thought that I would make it for Tony's Christmas present.  I bought the glue and letter at Hobby Lobby.  The letter only cost $1.99.  We have been collecting corks for years.  It didn't take me very long to make.  I glued a few on and then let them dry.  I like how it turned out.  Eventually I might spell out our whole last name to display in the basement when we get that all done.

If  you want me to make a letter for you, start drinking!
